Meet Bill Black

author bill black

Bill Black is a mystery fanatic and the debut author of the forthcoming novel The Last Mardi Gras. A former publishing executive with a romantic heart and a self-described “stomach for messes,” Bill helped develop several legendary book series including Goosebumps and The Baby-Sitters Club.

After years of helping authors like John D. MacDonald publish page-turners – his own novels tucked safely away in a drawer – a hero named Genevieve Clarke popped into his brain. Her story of code-cracking savvy in New Orleans gripped him utterly.

Genevieve reminded him of all the tough-as-nails women he revered. She was a bit like his Irish mother, who was widowed with six children, and a bit like his daughter, a tech company executive, and a bit like his wife, who lives and breathes New Orleans. Genevieve’s pulse-pounding struggles, as CEO of Code Crackers, Inc., will decide the fate of millions.

Bill Black is a Georgetown graduate and an avid golfer who left his country club when they refused to permit female membership. He enjoys the occasional happy hour martini with friends. A member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers, he writes every day in New Orleans.
